Preston Photography is the combined work of Roger Preston and Roxanne Bebee Blatz.. Roger and Roxanne have traveled much of the country as well as many places overseas. In 2002 they moved to New Mexico. While experiencing the same subject matter each sees and captures a unique view with its own essences. As Preston Photography, Roger and Roxanne, continue to pursue their dreams of providing beautiful, interesting photographs in both commercial and artistic venues. In this season's exhibition they are featuring images close to home.
Roxanne says: "Through our over 33 years together Roger and I have shared our love of photography and getting out in nature. I have always enjoyed bringing the subject closer to me through long lens photography. I love taking pictures of 'lone' and 'dead' trees, architectural vignettes, and shots that make people smile because they are humorous. Most recently I have been experimenting with abstracts in rock, moss and mud. These images have intrigued me because of their textures and the effect of light."
Roger says: "While I like to build the still life in front of the camera lens and light it, I also like finding subject matter that's out there. I've always liked working with wide angle lenses, seeking a near-far relationship that tells a story. When I can't play with lights in the studio, I look for nature's play of light. What attracts me is subjects of beauty, humor, incongruity, intrigue and thought-provoking."

Dianna Shomaker grew up in Seattle and studied art in college. The thrill of the artistic experiment is what captures her attention: using new materials, techniques and surfaces. The experimental application of color in a variety of ways often creates a stronger statement for her than the more traditional methods. Shomaker believes art is a means of learning to see and appreciate the world that surrounds her; the animation of people, intensity of light, mystery in shadows, and colors all juxtaposed are a wonder that is ever enlightening. In 2010 her works were awarded "Excellence in Non-Objective Painting" at the Masterworks Show, and 2nd place in the Texas Regional Show.
Shomaker says: "Most recently my paintings are mixed media painted with acrylic, enchanced with paper, pencil, and a variety of other mark making objects. They are sealed with polymer and varnish to protect them from UV light rays. The subject matter is impressions and abstractions of images, people and feelings."

Nancy is the poster artist for Santa Fe Wine Festival 2011 at Las Golondrinas. Kreger is a member of the Plein Air Painters of New Mexico and Colorado. Juried shows include 18 DAYS Exhibition 2011 in Santa Fe. She has had many one-woman and group shows in New Mexico, Massachusetts and Europe. More shows are scheduled. Nancy's work is also in private collections across the country and in Montreal and London. Posters of Santa Fe, Samuel Design Group and Museum of New Mexico Foundation all carry her work.
Nancy says: "I love to evoke the vibrant essence of a place when I paint 'en plein air'. Adding charcoal, ink and pencil enhances feelings of lyrical calligraphy on my watercolor paper. Painting outside excites me . . .breezes on my face, sounds of a gurgling brook and chirping birds, smells of lavender fields and home-cooking, grey-greens of an ancient cathedral or a rust-colored adobe casita . . . My heart sings when I'm painting and I find myself smiling most of the time."

Geri Verble's Website
Geri Verble, a Placitas jewelry artist, specializes in tribal and ethnic jewelry. Verble developed a passion for collecting ethnic beads and pendants while travelling with the Peace Corps. Bead collecting not only became a passion for her, but a journey into learning about the history of beads. Having majored in Theatre Arts in college, Verble's focus was in Stagecraft Design. This sense of design has influenced her work in creating one of a kind, exception designs. One of Verble's pieces, 'An African Christmas', was featured in BeadStyle magazine, November 2008.
Verble says: "I begin my design by choosing a bead or pendant that I have collected from around the world. Each ancient bead and ethnic ornament tells a story and has a spiritual energy that flows through each piece. That energy guides me as I design. I am inspired by the beauty of Placitas, a place reminiscent of such distant places in which I have travelled. I believe designing in harmony with the Earth can create jewelry that satisfies the human spirit."
