        Victor Vigil  

 

 

Victor Vigil is an American Indian sculptor from Jemez Pueblo, New Mexico. A self-taught artist, Vigil started sculpting in 1978, he began his full time work a year later. A twelve-time winner of the prestigious SWAIA Annual Indian Market. Vigil’s sculptures are familiar to gallery goers in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Taos, California, New York, Arizona and as far as Italy. His medium is the New Mexico, Colorado and Utah Alabaster as well as other stones from within the country. Tools used to sculpt the stone include 7 and 4" grinders, a die grinder, Scato Knives, Dremel, files, mallets, chisels, sanders, finishing with frosting hammer, frosting points, poppy oil, white compound for buffing buffer for finishing, mahogany wood bases, hand sanding, and natural wood stain.
