   Carmine De Vivi

Carmine De Vivi is a painter, printmaker and sculptor. He received his BFA at the University of the Arts, Philadelphia, Pa. and his MFA from the University of Pemia. in Phila., Pa., where he studied with painters Angelo Savelli, Piero Durazio and Sculptor, James House Jr.  He says "Always taking from nature it’s complexities of form, masses of movement and color which provoke the kinds of results in my work which can be real, imaginary, even mystical.  I continue in series which gives me the opportunity to explore the subject (s) in depth."  He says his main focus is "to see what is around him, to take another look, to be challenged by the experience, to develop an idea, to create a language, to develop the process and explore the experience, and to look for another way."

De Vivi says about his work:
"How could one imagine the possibilities. Preparations for the First moon walk were becoming a reality. I was totally preoccupied with my thoughts and fantasies of what could be out There.

The stage had already been set, lift off and landing were both successful and my creative juices were flowing. I began “moongoing”,a series that would commemorate this Incredible event. This series came to be not only a personal Artistic achievement but nourishment for more Interpretations.

Outer space, the galaxies, the sun and the moon are the Symbols that are the focus of my work. I call these symbols Sky forms which are the elements most common in my work.

The rhythms and energies from the sky in the form of “eclipse” And all of the celestial community continue to provoke my Imagination. The new body of work reflects this ongoing Involvement."
