DeLuca, a resident of Placitas, New Mexico, paints interpreted
landscapes of her immediate surroundings. She focuses on creating
texture on the surfaces of her canvases and wood panels. Imagery is

the surface of the paintings. She has been painting in oils, acrylics,
and watercolors since she studied art in college. DeLuca received her BA
in Studio Art from Boston College and her MAT in Art Education from
Tufts University! The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. She has

students. Additionally, DeLuca
has taught various adult education courses in the watercolor medium. Her
work has been displayed in the Oakland /

"The
subject of my mixed media paintings focus on nature and my immediate
surroundings here in Placitas. The technique focuses on the process just
as much as the product. I concentrate on the elements of texture and
color when manipulating the surface of the wood panels. Papers and other
found objects are adhered to the surface, and this surface constantly
transforms. I add and remove materials, to create texture as well
imagery. The paintings speak to me during the creative process,
resulting in imagery that changes from day to day. When I have finally
completed the manipulation process, the painting is complete. The
surface texture speaks to me as I rub it with my fingers, brushes, and
palette knives. The acrylics paints and mediums dry quickly, allowing me
to rework the imagery over and over again. |
