Renée
Brainard Gentz does fabric constructions and collages. She dyes and
paints all her fabric, working with cotton and silk. The fabric is cut apart and
then reassembled by piecing and appliqué techniques. Gentz often uses
repetitive patterns so that the colors become the focus. Quilting adds texture
and another layer of color to the work. She employs multitudes of long, dangling
threads to add yet another layer of color encounters. She has exhibited all over the United States, and received various awards. Her work has been in many juried and invitational shows such as "Elements" in Cary, NC; the Los Ranchos Village Hall; The Society of Layerist in Multi Media National Conference; the NM State Fair and the NM Arts & Crafts Fair. Her awards include First place in Multi Media at the NM State Fair show and at the NM Arts and Craft Fair. Her work is in private, corporate and public collections. |
