| James Shields graduated in 2006 from The Juilliard School of Music with his Bachelor's Degree in Music. He currently serves as Acting Principal Clarinetist for the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra. At Juilliard he was a founding member of AXIOM, a student-run chamber ensemble that only focuses on playing 20th-century works. He performed at the ensemble’s debut in April in 2005. At the age of 15 he performed the second movement of Brahms’ Sonata Op. 120, No. 2 as a winner in the 1999 Austin Young Artists Concert presented in Association with the University of Texas School of Music. |
