Dear Friends of the Placitas Artists Series,
The glow is still radiating warmth and energy throughout the community from our 25th anniversary year. It was a wonderful season, and it has inspired us to provide more this coming season. We love the special feeling that has been created. It embodies a poem by Patricia Walter. The series brings to us a time ”to be touched by wonderful music, beautiful art, love of our fellow man. To be moved, drawn, taken to places unknown. To feel an overwhelming chill from a beautiful orchestral phrase, to be filled with warmth and joy from the color of a canvas, to feel the wonder from the creativity of mankind.” That is our vision for our 26th year, as it has always been.
Willy Sucre will be joining us with his friends. For many, those friends will be familiar to us. But he always surprises us with a new “friend”. In March he will be joined by the Matisse Trio, whom we’ve heard several times and have come to know for their talent and versatility. Willy will be presenting string quintets and quartets during the season, and piano sextets and quartets in May and November. Those five concerts will be a prestigious complement to the splendid flute and piano duo to celebrate the harvest, and a classical and jazz pianist to warm you in February when days are short and cool. Of course, the holidays will be heralded with the beautiful voices of the Polyphony Women’s Chorus, and the season comes to a culmination with guitar and cello duo as spring awakens. In addition, October will become the annual month for focusing on the newly created PAS Endowment Fund, and March will again bring us a beautiful photography show of the work of David Cramer. All nine months there will be a wonderful array of artistic talent for your viewing and purchasing pleasure. It will be a wonderful season to take your ears and eyes on an adventure with us. We are delighted that you are here to share in this sanctum sanctorum with us.
On behalf of all of us on the Board of the Placitas Artists Series . . .
Welcome to the new season!
